Delmore Schwartz was an American writer born in Brooklyn (1913-1966). His parents were Jewish immigrants from Romania. His first book, In Dreams Begin Responsibilities and Other Stories, was published in 1938 when he was 25 years old.
The story "Screeno" is about a narrator (seemingly autobiographical) who gives away his prize money at the movies. The dynamics of the story are reminiscent of an incident in Buster Keaton's classic silent film "Sherlock Jr." Watch from 3:27 to 6:25 to see if you can observe some correspondences between the film and Schwartz's story.
